This is Goosey (in the back of the pic) it's a goose from Canada, maybe a Blue goose? Goosey showed up before Thanksgiving.Goosey hangs out with the other geese, they seem to get along.I was wondering since most of the geese have flown back north now, will Goosey be okay hanging down here?
I have ducks that I feed several times a day that I raised & of course the geese want their share.

Goosey can fly really well, when he or she sees me out in my canoe, Goosey will do a fly-by.Quite an impressive wingspan & amazing to watch him go between the cypress trees.

Here are my three yr. old ducks that were raised with my first chickens I got. They were following me in the canoe one evening, begging for food

What a beautiful setting! I would love to see more of where you canoe. Is it attached to your property? As for Goosey....he doesn't look like any of the geese we have hanging around my place. We seem to only have those cranky typical Canada geese. If he is from up here and has chosen to stay south, I would have to say that he is one smart goose. Still grey and miserable...icy driveway, ground still covered with snow, birds still huddled in their coop. Promises to be warmer tomorrow for the onset of spring though. It will eventually get very hot (90's) and verrrry humid here so Goosey would have experienced that and should be okay in the south. Carolyn

One more thing...what is the name of the flower in your avatar? Is it something your grow in your garden?

Hi Carolyn, yes I live on a bayou, spring has sprung around here.

I'll get some pics together & post some in social soon.I love spring but the heat of summer & the mosquitoes, ugh! I didn't think it would get so hot that far up north, wow.
Goosey is a little shy but he'll come a little closer if there are other geese\\ or ducks around.I wonder if they would cross breed with the other geese???
That's an Iris that was blooming the other day,my MIL has all kinds of flowers in our yard.

Keep warm up there,be safe,Miriam

The goose just looks like the kind of domesticated geese I've gotten at my feed store, but I have always heard that they can't fly...? Your pictures are gorgeous! Do you live on a lake? Do you have alligators in Louisiana?

Here's another pic of Goosey by himself,he's not from around here.It was hard to see him in the other pic.

WRanch yes we have gators

There's a lake not too far from here that has a few. It's been awhile since they've found any around.Usually when someone does they will kill it.

They aren't too big. But I've seen them before laying on the side of the road sunbathing. There are more in south Louisiana than up here in the north.
Thank yall for your comments,it's beautiful this time of year.
Have a good one ,Miriam

Oh, sorry I thought you were talking about the goose in the front of the pic. I was too stupid to see the part that said in the back! I'm surprised it wouldn't migrate if it was a wild goose. Maybe it really likes you! I'm scared half to death of alligators. When I was a little girl I had to go on a boat that glides on air to view gators in Florida. The boat was going so fast, and when we would go around corners it was completely turned on it's side. The only thing I could think was that the boat was going to tip over and we would all be eaten alive! It was really traumatizing. I want to move to the south, but I'm looking for places without them, I just can't get over the experiance.

Are they still alive after 12 years?
