I have to assume they do, I am just sitting here in my office looking at a bizillion apples on the ground in my back yard and thinking to myself, Hmmm.....

What's a realistic limit?

yes, they like apples, and tomatoes.

I would not feed more then 1/4 apple per bird.

Look for a change in thier stools, if it goes really runny, stop or cut back.

if you have the space in the refrig you can bag them and save them for later to feed --- or put them in a cool dark place - like a basement to store and feed as need be.

But your plan A is a good one

mine love them. I keep a few in the fridge so on these hot days they get a cool treat. I put out one to two for my 17. Never had a problem

will they eat the little crab apples, we got plenty that are falling off our old apple tree, they are sour to eat, but maybe I could put good use to them.
