Apple cider vinegar to keep water clean?

Hi everyone,
I have a 5-gallon waterer in my coop (well, technically in the run, but you know what I mean), and I'm worried about it getting gross in there. I've been changing it every 3 days just to be safe, but I would like to be more confident in its cleanliness. Is apple cider vinegar a good idea, and if so, how much? Does it have any health benefits?

Thank you for helping me keep my girls healthy and happy!!! 🐔
Hi. The BEST thing I have found to keep algae out of you water is COPPER. Put a piece of copper in it and it should stay WAY cleaner! I've just recently did this and haven't seen algae since. Hope it helps.🐥

Hello,
I’ve been trying to write you three times now and when I’m almost done, I get cut off and I’m made to start all over so I’m just going to say, get yourself a bag of First Saturday Lime, you won’t be disappointed. You can get it from Amazon, Lowe’s, the company itself, the price is pretty consistent. It will save you a lot of grief. You put some of the powder right into the water in the bucket and you will be so glad you bought it. I promise. I hope you have a great rest of your day,
Your Chicken Friend,
April
