Lol, yeah. I wanted to think of a new project to do for myself since I think it's pretty cool with other people trying to make new breeds or colors for existing breeds.
So I bought some turkens and I have a polish rooster...
I was hoping I could get some advice on how I should go about mixing them.
My goals are:
naked necks
long legs (like the polish)
A big poof on the head and
A V comb like the polish have.
Unlike the Turken standard, I don't want a bow tie on them.
With these goals, I wonder how I should start, If I should have Turken hens and a Polish rooster or vice versa. I still have time since the Turkens I have are 2 months old.
What are the harder traits to aim for? With that in mind, should I try to get hard traits first or have a base mix that I just work on?
Also, if anyone has any other traits that would be cool to try and aim for, just mention it
If anyone wants to do this with me at one point we can swap eggs and get a decent gene pool going on.
Thanks for any help
To be more organized and easier for the casual looker I put pictures of my starting group
Turkens:
First up my Turken rooster, Kratos he is redish black colored He has no bow-tie. He's awesome.
Now there are his ladies I have two that are like the white/buff color and one has a bow-tie and the other does not. In the background Is a red/brown girl and I have 3 that look like her.
Then I have 1 black female and It's a absolutely terrible picture, but I thought I took more and now it's dark so bleh...
I also spent a long time looking for a all white girl and finally found one but she is only 2-3 months old. I like her a lot as well.
Now the Polish
My splash rooster..that is splash right? I like him a lot
One of my White crested black polish ladies:
An then this is NOT a polish. Lol. I thought it was, but its a mottled Houdan. Maybe I'll use it anyways lol.
