Hey all! I'm finally back online and almost all moved in to the new house. Here are my oldest babies. I've had them about 6 weeks, and they came from Atwoods, who get their chicks from Ideal.
This first one is Bobby the barred rock. I think I just need to know if it is spelled Bobby or Bobbie. LOL! He came out of the heavy- straight run bin. I was happy he was a roo, but he is really the dumbest bird I have ever seen, so I don't really want his genes in my flock. If he is a boy, he will be dinner, and if a pullet, eggs only. I thought it was a roo when I got it, then, it's comb quit growing. Now, it seems to be getting bigger and more red, so maybe it is a roo? In the background is probably a red sex link. She came out of the pullet bin. She has some slight partridge markings on her wingtips and tail. She's really pretty, but not too friendly.
Here is my mystery roo. I knew he was a roo when I got him. He came out of the Heavy bin, but he is not.
He is comparable in size to a lot of the chickens, but seems built like a game bird to me. When he was little, I was hoping for a dark cornish, with those yellow legs, but was really disappointed. I will be getting rid of him (too little to eat! LOL!) so I want to know what he is.
Here is the hen to the game roo. I think they are the same breed. They were identical when they were babies, except for the roo having a pink comb. She also came out of the Heavy bin.
This is Rudy. I believe she is a New Hampshire Red. She is too light to be a Rhode Island Red. She's a sweetie and one of the first ones to come running when I go out there.
She isn't blind, I just got a pic of her blinking! ROFL! You can see a closer pic of the partridge tipped one that was in the first pic with the Barred Rock standing next to her.
The rest of the group are 2 buff orpingtons, and 2 sex-links. One that is red with white, and one that is buff with white. I think I got pretty lucky getting only one or two roos out of 9 chicks, and the roos were ones I intentionally got. I got 3 or 4 out of the pullets, and the rest out of the heavies.
I am most interested in finding out what the game type pair are. Any ideas are welcome!
