My first brooder! Hubby built it today!

All it cost him was around $5 for an OSB board from Lowe's and a little time. (He already had some scrap boards, nails, & screws that he used for it.) We had a brooder that he had built for himself, but this one is for my babies only!

My 9-year-old daughter also got into the spirit and painted a sign for the top as an extra surprise for me.

That is a really great brooder. Nice and big with room to grow with the ability to put fun things in there so the chicks don't get bored and pick on each other.

I put a flat topped rock in mine near the heat lamp and that was a favorite spot because it held heat.

I started out with an apple tree branch but saw that the chicks had to balance on it so I switch that out for a 2 x 4 about 5 " off the floor and they loved it.

I look forward to seeing pics of the babies in their new space.
