Well, I want to upgrade to a bigger kiddie pool for all my duckies. But i know that even though i am younger myback does not appriciate having to lift all that weight - plus that leads to the sides bending and then it cracks.

So, any one have an easier way to clean out their pools for fresh water? Ive seen on here where some people cut a hole and put a bath plug in it, any one have something like that that works?

The thing is you have to cut that hole real smooth or it will crack/tear there. I finally gave up and bought a small sump type pump that pumps out through a garden hose, that way I can send that rich (and sometimes stinky) water where I want it. Draw back is that it isn't fast. I start it when I start my chores and half way through the time come back and start the hose filling the empty pool. usually I run two pools and I will start pumping out the second one while the first is filling and I am finishing up the chores. If i have the time to spare I will stand around and watch the ducks while the second one fills. If time is tight I will leave the second one empty and fill it the next day while I am pumping out the first pool.

go to your local hardware store, and look at the threaded PVC pipe fittings, and look for a ball valve like what you would attach to a rain barrel, it should come with the necessary gaskets for a good seal, just finish it off with some silicon caulk, let it set for a few hours and your good to go.

Any farm store will carry a rubbermaid stock tank replacement drain. It includes all the needed parts to put a drain in any plastic container.

I use stock tank plugs, too. They're black & contain two pieces that can be tightened by hand. We just use a 1" drill hole saw.

The ones we get locally don't have the red thingamajigs...can't think of what they're called right now. ugh. But, they work very well.

Also, a little secret I've learned emptying pool after pool ... rather than lift straight up on the edge of the pool, you should pull back towards you as you lift. Keeps the pool from creasing in the middle like what you refer too.

Red things are washers.

My pool has a drain just like a bathtub my husband cut the hole and it has pvc pipe and a hose attached and drains under the pool and the long hose goes down hill were the water drains he put duck tape on it and we have had no leaks and it works great...I drain it every morning...
