okay so heres the deal i just hatched my first chick ever without a incubator seriously just a towel bucket and desk lamp setup.
What do i do know???

MOST IMPORTANTLY
what temp. should i keep him at should i keep him under the lamp??
should i keep it moist like mist it with water or let it dry up?
(might be a dumb question but i have no idea)

Please reply as soon as possible i want a healthy chick
thank you MYSTOEGG

If it's hatched out you don't want to mist it or keep it wet, you want it to dry up and fluff out. 95 degrees right under a lamp enough space in a brooder box that it can get away from the heat if needed. 5 degrees less heat each week after.

Food and water away from the heat.

okay thanks but will the lamp light bother it or will it burn the chicks skin or harm it.. like with the egg its protected im afraid that the soft skin will get damaged

not to be mean, but you went through the trouble of hatching a chick but ya ain't got your brooder set up yet?!!! what have you been doing the last 21 days, watchin the grass grow?? !!!

You need to put a thermometer in there and see what the temp is. As long as it's not over 100 down where he is it shouldn't burn him. I'd like to see a pic of this improvised incubator.

Oh my gosh...pretty impressive.
How's it doing....?
Let it dry and fluff up in a little box and keep warm under your lamp.
Allow it to rest alot...for around 24hours...then you can offer Chick starter and water...He may not eat for another day...it'll be okay. Dip his beak in the water every once in a while so it learns to drink. Keep him warm okay
