Progeny from heroic rooster

Pics
The hatching seems to be complete. I was able to confirm four visually, but I didn't want to disturb her. Here are some pictures:

I think one might be a chipmunk.

There was one chick that was black at the top with a white belly. I'm going to assume that's from the JG.

I'll post more detailed pictures once she permits. It looks like we made it past the really cold weather, though these chicks don't seem to be the least bit concerned about the season.

Congrats on your successful broody hatch! and sorry to hear about your issues with Merek's. has your flock been healthy otherwise?

Yes, everyone else hasn't had any health issues aside from the two pullets I've mentioned, and we don't see any symptoms in anyone else.

We didn't do a PCB test to actually confirm, both necropsies conclude Marek's based on the lymphoma symptoms, which were present in both birds. They still list avian leukosis as a possible though less likely cause.

Cuties!! Did the 5th one hatch or are you not sure yet?

We just confirmed, and here are some poor quality images to prove it:

There are two mostly black ones, two whitish yellow ones with different kinds of spots, and one chipmunk.

I bet the chipmunk is from the Speckled Sussex. One of the black ones is from a JG. The other one could be also from a JG, or maybe from a Dominique? These eggs weren't as large as any of our BRs lay, it has to be from one of the pullets. (And not from Arthur's daughters, who are gigantic dinosaurs and lay huge eggs.)

We'll see if there's any leg feathering to figure out which one is the Buff Brahma's.
