OK It is addictive. Now we are trying duck eggs and I could really use some advice. I have a hova bator still air. I need to know all the basics. How much turning, temp. , humidity, how long, and anything else you can think of. Any help would be appreciated. My daughter is so excited so I really want to get this right. Eggs are coming tomorrow.

:fl:fl Thanks!

Hello, what kind of duck eggs are they? Muscovies (I think take 35 days to hatch). The rest take about 28 days to hatch. Temp should be about 99 - 100 and Humidity 40-50% the first 24- 25 days and then I up it to 75 -80% for hatching. After 3-5 days of incubation I would mist the eggs with warm water when I turned them at night. I turned them 3x a day. I have had good hatches with this advice and hopefully you will too.

Good Luck!!

we have an LG still air. on our first hatch we put in 16 eggs not expecting a great hatch, but surprise, all 16 hatched. we did everything "wrong" used the paper thermometer, no hygrometer in beginning. My son turned 2 times a day, added water to troughs when they got low. did not mist. theny I got a thermometer/ hygrometer from walmart. Temp was off (low), as was humidity. Our hatch took about a day or 2 longer than expected, , we opened the bator often (not recommended), to remove the ones who hatched sooner than the others. Like I said, did everything wrong, but 100% hatch anyway

Good luck! Happy hatching!

I've done it so many different ways too.. the first time the temp was too high, second, humidity too low etc. I think if you stay "around" the recommendations, it would be fine. If temp is too low, they will hatch a day or two later. If temps are too high they will hatch a day or two sooner. I have not noticed a difference with "misting" but I figured mommy duck is usually wet when coming back to set on her eggs, so it couldn't hurt.

Thanks so much for the help!!! I am getting a butterscotch, silver appleyard, grey and 2 blue. plus whatever other eggs they get that day. I am really excited. Gonna write all this down. Got my hygrometer today and now thanks to ya'll I'm ready!! Yeah!! One more question.. Do you candle them the same as chicken eggs? Sorry if these are dumb questions, just don't want to mess up. Thank you so much for your help!!
