We have a celebrity on our site - Plain Dealer reporter John Campanelli who wrote this great article in today's paper!! My mom, who thinks I'm a chicken freak, actually called to tell me about it today. HA - not so nuts anymore, huh mom??!!

Thanks for posting. I am originally from Ohio, so I like to read about good things happening there.

I live in Arizona now, and just read a couple of weeks ago that one of our feed stores ordered 700 chicks and sold over 500 in 2 weeks.
So, backyard chickens is becoming more popular.

I get compliments all of the time about how good their eggs are compared to store eggs.

We started with 4 chickens when my son joined 4-H two years ago. Now we have 24 chickens and 26 chicks, with 2 broodies sitting on more eggs.

Hopefully, the popularity will continue.

I previously lived in Willoughby which is an eastern suburb of Cleveland. I was told in no uncertain terms that chickens were not permitted. Of course, there were illegals as I heard roos crowing many times.
