thanks maddz.

You can soak her feet in vegetable oil or Vaseline, which will smother the mites that cause it but not hurt her if she ingests it. Once the mites are gone, the scales will start to grow back normally. I'm not sure if they fall off or not.

I'd agree that I've read olive oil, and warmed vaseline. I have also heard that ivermectin can help (in addition to the oils). That was my personal anecdotal experience when mine had a case of leg mites once. (Added: the ivermectin I used was systemic)

I hope that helps? Let us know, please, if you try one which helps and which doesn't if you don't mind. The input and your personal experience would be very greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

You can apply this product (quick source below altho it is not the cheapest) topically to affected area
http://www.firststatevetsupply.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=192

let soak in and THEN apply mineral oil (mineral oil = baby oil) ... the next day you will want to gently scrub the area (dependent on how sore it is ... either with a tooth brush or paint brush while the bird is standing in disinfectant based water (I would suggest chlorhexidine or novalsan)... when "dry" reapply the oil) on day two again scrub and let "dry" and then reapply the ivermectin ... let soak in and reapply the oil.
Reapeat if necessary.
I have found that in bad cases the oil/vaseline is not sufficient. I advise the oil over the vaseline in this case (difficult to remove for repeat application of ivermectin) as the vaseline would prevent all the ivermectine being soaked up sufficiently into the lesions and killing the mites
