Can anyone post a pic of this color bird?
I have a standard white cochin hen- and I can't decide if I should keep her with my BBS roos, or partridge ones.

Also- would this color look good for a cochin?
Thanks! (I think I may have asked for this before- but can't remember)

It is an e+ bird as in brown leghorns (light).

Are you planning to breed your white cochin with one of your males? The colour of the offspring from a recessive white bird, like a white cochin, when crossed with another colour, cannot accurately be predicted. The topic of recessive white being crossed with other colours frequently comes up. I expect if you do a search on recessive white you will find lots of threads about the subject.

Ok- good to know. I might let her have a few chicks just to see. I don't want to put her in the BBS coop because I'm afraid I'll end up with too many black chicks.
Thanks guys!

No offence, but who started to call a silver based bird gold?

The chicken calculator starts with both parents set to black patterned gold duckwing.
This is the wildtype chicken: black breasted red, light brown whatever it is called across the breeds.

Don't you get the pictures in the calculator?

Never mind, Krys is right.
Duckwing colors do not come out of rec.white cochins that easily.
Your best bet is set it to black first and then switch the C-locus to c/c.
If you know the parents of the white animal that might help.

The parents of the white hen were both white. I did get the image on the calculator- but my mind just can't picture the animated image on an actual bird

(I don't know why I can't see it- I'm a geologist & I've spent years looking at all kinds of maps)

Argh! I tried it again using dominant white and recessive white. I get a result of all white or all black chicks. That's what I was trying to avoid in the BBS coop.

No offence taken.. I dont know who started to call a silver based bird gold but it is even in the American Standard of Perfection like that.. Its one of those things it just don't make sense.
