Having kept chickens for over 15 years and hatching my own eggs with a old Styrofoam Hovabator, I sometimes get asked for chicken advice. A older couple started a goat farm and had some chickens. They found a Hovabator in a garage sell and commenced to incubate some of their eggs-----no luck and the eggs went bad-----So this is where I got called in for advice, I copied the old instructions I still had from my incubator and went to see what was what. Turns out they put the incubator in an outbuilding with no heat and no water added, they also didn't have a thermometer to know where to adjust the rheostat. During the course of my visit we went out to look at their chickens coop and run, The hens all squatted for us as we came close-----Ahhh....."where is your rooster?"-------------------wait for it------------------------------"We don't have one"
