I have had my white frizzle hen in with a black frizzle roo. I know that I should have her in with a smooth male, but I was wondering what the issues with feather quality will be if I were to hatch any of her eggs. I'm looking for some other eggs to come in next week, so I'm trying to get some eggs together from my birds here to keep the incubator from being too empty.

according to the math, a frizzle to frizzle mating should produce 25% smooth, 50% frizzle, and 25% homozygous frizzle (which will make the feathers brittle and break off easily)
Be ready to cull about 25% of your hatch when they start to feather out. Those chicks will almost go naked because of the brittleness of the feathers.

Hmmm...now I wonder if I should do it. I don't want any naked babies!

I guess I'll wait and put the other boy in with her first. I just have to figure out how to keep him from getting out. She doesn't, but either boys does. Go figure.
