Limping pullet - help!

3 month old pullet started limping today. She looks like she's off balance but I examined her leg and observed the way she walks and it's the left "hip" that's wrong. It's not broken, swollen or hot. If I hold the chick by her body she keeps her left leg straight while the right one is normal. When she stands or walks the left leg is kept at an inward angle (more under the chick) but she carries weight on both legs.

She's ring marked on her left leg - could it have caught in something and she's pulled a muscle or something like that?

She's kept by herself in confinement at the moment.

What should I do to get her better???

I had a rooster that started limping. It got worse so I put him in a cage in my kitchen. Fed him the get-well mash, and by the third day, he was crowing so loudly and consistently, I felt like breaking his little neck. We put him outside and the limp was much improved, though still visible. A few months have passed and he's fine and wreaking havoc on the hens.

When you think about how much running, hopping, tree-climbing, and scratching around chickens do, I'm surprised they aren't all limping.

Maybe if yours is kept in confinement for a few days, it'll give her leg time to heal too.

She's the most promising of our SLW pullets, so I really do hope it will get better.

I've seen a few posts regarding mareks and such but it luckily doesn't seem to be neurological, it really seems to be located in her left hip only. I've also read somewhere that it could take weeks to improve if it's a sprain or a strain.. But if yours could improve in days, hopefully mine can too!

Yes it is strange that they don't get hurt more.. Our chooks have been injure free for 8 years, but this summer we've had a bad run with 2 bumblefoots (feet.. whatever

) one broken toe and now a limping chicken.
 
She's probably injured herself, I have one like that now. I give her 1 low-dose aspirin crushed and dissolved in 1 quart/litre water to help with inflammation. She's gradually improving, I left her with the flock. She's my 'flight instructor', Maggie will not stay on the ground!
