Hello,

I have a 3 and half year old female Guinea Fowl that started having a limp maybe a week and a half - 2 weeks ago. She would still walk around, but recently she has been laying down and only walks when she absolutely has to. I notice that when she lays down, she has her injured leg up a little bit. I checked it last night, and one of her leg's ankle bones is swollen on both sides. It's like two soft, small bumps on both sides of her ankle. Her leg isn't broken, it moved normally, even though it definitely hurts her. Does anyone know what that is, and what I can do to treat her?

Can you get photos of her foot/leg?

I wonder if she sprained it since the ankle is swollen. If possible, confine her to a smaller kennel to limit activity. A sprain can take a couple of weeks to heal if that's what has happened.

To reduce swelling, you can try epsom salts soaks, if she's agreeable.
