I am betting dollars to donuts it's a raccoon because it has killed five birds tonight, ate the guts out of them all the way up to the neck but hasn't touched the breast meat.
It has taken out 3 small and two full-grown birds.
I'm betting it's a family.
Whatever they are, they are not getting trapped and leg-hold traps are not working.
What can I use to poison these things. I am absolutely sick of it and don't care what animals take off with the poison at this point. None of MY animals are going in and out of the pen and everyone on my block knows that whatever gets into the pen is dead.
So, any ideas on how to kill whatever it is?

Perhaps you could consider an electric wire/fence around your coop before you go to the poisoning method? Some of this stuff requires a license plus I would be very leery of handling it esp. if you have kids and pets (not to mention yourself).
