I bought leg bands from featherfanciers.com, really first state vet supply.
I am fond of numbered bandettes, which I purchase from http://www.poultrymansupply.com/2007Legbands.htm

I have benn ordering leg bands from the ABA. I like to put a permanent band on when they are big enough to keep it on their legs. Make for easy ID purposes, plus has the year on them too.

The bands from the APA, along with bandettes. They also really help when you are breeding, that way you can better track your egg collection (if using breeding pairs).

I find numbered wing tags works well for me. I put them on as they are taken from the hatcher & make a record of the number stating the parents of the chick, describing down, size & condition at hatch.
