Our Nigerian Dwarf, Confetti, just gave birth to four little babies - 3 girls and a boy.

So far all are doing well. The last one is a bit smaller and seems to be moving pretty slow but they have only been on their feet about a half hour. I did make sure it got some collastrum by squeezing it in its mouth but so far it doesn't seem to have caught on to sucking. It roots around but doesn't take hold.

I have a question - 4 babies - 2 teats - how's it done? Can she care for all four? So far she is licking and tending to each one but can she feed 4 babies?

Poor girl!! Do you have any preggers pics of her? I bet she looked like she would explode! 3 girls and a boy? Wow, you lucked out there! Congrats

I love her name! I don't have the answer for you...we're expecting triplets, and I'm curious about the same thing!

Hey, does anyone have experience with a goat raising quads? Simple math - 2 teats, 4 babies - how does it work?

Last time she had triplets but one died before we discovered them and she only accepted the first one so I had to bottle raise the second one but I always kept them together and would hold the mama so he could nurse too and stay with his sister.

This time I was watching and waiting and was right there assisting her. As each was born I would break the sac and clean it off a bit and hand it to mama. I didn't want to take any chances that she would only tend to the first born and reject the rest.

So far she's a doting mama to all four. The last one seems a bit weak so I'm watching them closely.

Oh, and the little boy is the white one. He wasn't even out of the sac good when he's squirming for attention and a teat. Crawling right over the other 3. I told everyone there, I bet that's a boy and sure enough it is.

It was really neat. We have our son, his girlfriend and a couple friend of theirs visiting for the weekend. They were already thinking the farm was pretty neat but then they got to watch 4 babies be born. I was too busy helping deliver but they all kept teasing our 26 year old son about his face and the fact he looked like he was going to pass out.
