Severely swollen crop - EDITED to add OMG and pics!!

One of my silkie hens (over 2 years old) has a severely swollen crop, full of air. I've been reading on here and yesterday when I found her, I brought her in the garage, gave her active culture yogurt (mixed with egg yolk) and have put ACV in her water. I pulled all food/water out of the crate over night and this morning she's worse. It's so large she can't walk and can barely stand.

The funny thing is, she has very normal poop and has gone quite a bit since she's been inside. I can't smell anything sour around her mouth. I massaged it a lot last night and she seemed to really like that.

*** OMG - I just picked her up and was feeling around and her neck seems sunken?? The bone is protruding towards the front, above her crop, there is a serious indention right before her head?? WHAT IN THE WORLD?? You can also hear rumbling in the crop??

Thanks for any advice. I'm going to try and get a picture!!

OMG....you must be so scared.......I cannot help you, but you should call around for a vet who will help.

I have never seen a crop so hugh. I would definately be worried also. When my girls get an over sized crop I withhold food and slowly, gently massage the crop. Seems to help in it going down. But never as big as this. It most definately must have a blockage. I sure hope, and wish you luck on this

Anyone? She's acting normal, preening, sleeping... what else can I do for her? It's Sunday and I can't find a vet open that will deal with a chicken. Plus we're leaving overnight tonight, coming back tomorrow...

i think there is a thread somwhere on surgically taking the extras out of the crop.

good that she is behaving normally. maybe it will go down on its own?

If you're going away, then there's not a whole lot you can do anyway. But the suggestion to withhold food was a good one. I would withhold food and only supply water and some grit for a couple days. Then see how she looks and if it's going down any. You should be able to reach a vet by that point. Good luck with her.

Her crop will not go down, It has lost it's muscle tone, I'ts a condition called pendulous crop,Which turns into sour crop,I personally would not give any grit and very little water, This has to be surgerically fixed, most times it's hereditary but sometimes caused by gorging on grit or water, I know some that has made crop slings to hold the crop up, but the condition more times than not comes back
 
What would happen if it wasn't surgically repaired? Why is it just now this size? It's really heavy, but squishes like a balloon...

I love my chickens, but right now, with my husband's illness and medical bills, there's no way I could afford to spend a lot at the vet on her...
