After a painfully long photobucket upload using dialup I finally have some pics of my crele penedesencas. They are about 5 months old.

My rooster, Hugo. He has frostbite damage on the tips of his comb which I tried desperately to prevent.

and... the egg! Its not as dark as the eggs they came from but there is still the possibility of darkening.

they are BEAUTIFUL! I have read that the eggs darken as the chickens continue to lay. it will be exciting to see them as they change. Keep us posted.

Out of all the different penedesenca colors, the crele is my favorite, but it seems they are also the hardest to find

. The roosters are stunning, including your Hugo! I hope to have a couple to my very small flock to help the breed.

I'm hoping the OP is still active after all these years. I'm trying to find out about when Penedesencas begin laying. I have a 24-week-old gal with a bright red comb, looking fat and sassy, but no eggs yet. I'm so eager to see that dark egg!
