I am going on vacation... here is my animal care sheet for the house/pet sitter.... what am I forgetting?

ANIMAL CARE SCHEDULE

Morning Visit
• Let dogs out **Abby (black dog) won’t go out its too cold but she will go in her box
• Feed/water dogs, check cat food (up stairs by computer room)
• Open chicken door, check water make sure its not frozen, check level of chicken food (if chickens water is frozen use back up heated dog bowl) take red scoop of scratch and throw/scatter it in the chicken run
• Put the dogs back to bed when you are ready to leave.
** if you plan on doing a mid-day visit you can leave the dogs out and close the living room door, and close the baby gate to confine the dogs in the kitchen/back hall. Make sure they have an electric heater

Afternoon/Evening Visit
• Let dogs out **Abby (black dog) won’t go out its too cold but she will go in her box
• Check food/water for dogs
• Collect eggs (cartons are on top of the fridge)
• Close chicken door, check water make sure its not frozen (if chickens water is frozen use back up heated dog bowl) *** this step may have to wait until the night time visit if all 17 chickens are not back in house
• Leave the dogs out in the kitchen/back hall to give them time to eat

Night time Visit
• Let dogs out for final time for the day
• If the chickens were not closed at last visit close them now
• Put the dogs to bed for the night, make sure both the living room doors are closed to keep the heat in the living room
Location of food
• Dog food and cookies are on the stove
• Cat food is in the computer room
• Chicken food is in the coop, the feed is in the blue Rubbermaid container, the scratch is in the blue camping cooler with the split lid, they are both in the coop

Important notes
• There are electric heaters in certain rooms of the house. 2 in the living room, 1 in the kitchen, 1 oil heater in the upstairs bathroom, 1 oil filled heater in the chicken coop. The heater that sits by the dog crate gets moved around the corner into the back hall if the dogs are in there for “free” time. When you move back into the living room for the night make sure it is not pointed directly at crate it will make it too hot for the dogs
• If you notice the blankets in the dogs bed become soiled, there are spare dog blankets in the front hall in the pine box. Please place the soiled bedding on the floor of the basement or in the stock pot that sits on the ledge of the sink (that’s my pre-soak bucket)
• This may sound silly but when you are upstairs checking on the cats can you flush the toilet if you think of it, most times the cats till drink out of the toilet instead of their water dish.
• Keep the radio on in the kitchen and living room, the dogs are used to someone being home all the time and when we do go out we leave the radio on for them

I would reccomend gathering eggs each visit, especially if cold enough that they could freeze.

Where you going on vacation? Hope its warm, and you have a good time.

I think that list pretty much covers it all. No special feeding instructions or medications to be given?

Enjoy your vacation.
