Give too many eggs to a brooding hen, it stops her?

This Buff O was brooding again this spring. I set 12 fertilized eggs under and she stopped brooding. Has anyone ever experienced this? Last time she hatched out six eggs. I wonder if the number of eggs overwhelmed her and she stopped brooding because of it. What do you think?

Ok, so I have ten hens now....... summer is hot in Texas but the girls are doing okay.
