100% grass fed chicken

Mmmm I suppose they could but WHY? they'd probably be unhealthy and have other issues.

And if they happen to find a bug - well they won't be 100% grass fed.

Chickens are not herbivores. All veggie diets are not natural to them. 16 or so percent protein is the accepted amount for them to be healthy. If you give them cut grass to eat, often they can get crop problems like an impacted crop due to strands being too long. So as a treat is good, but not as their diet.

I think in general - you want to give them a nice variety - its the same for humans, you don't want to eat just one type of food, you'll be lacking in many nutrients and minerals etc....

Its so much easier to have a healthy chicken if you buy the feed from a feed store - and then let them free range for bugs and grass and what nots...... they'll be getting the best of both worlds.

I am feeding them 16% layer pellets. How do I coordinate the feeding. Should I only feed them during the night after they have grazed the field?
