Well, I am disappointed! I have this great looking (imo) BO/Dom cross pullet who just started laying. She has laid several eggs now and they are small. and pale. My Bo's laid large glossy pinkish brown eggs and I was hoping for that with this pullet. And I was wanting to hatch some more of this cross. Now I am thinking not. Does anyone else have this cross?

Color will always vary with individual birds, but the egg size should increase as she gets older. Pullets always lay small eggs which gradually get bigger with time. So don't give up on her because of that. I'm curious about what she looks like -- any chance of a picture?

Thanks for the info. I don't mind the pale color of the egg so much as the size but it sounds like there is hope.

I need to get an updated picture of her when my husband gets back from OK with camera.

The earlier a pullet starts laying the smaller the eggs will be but as others have said as she gets older the eggs will get larger. The longer it takes for a pullet to start laying the larger the eggs are when she does start egg production. I had some barnevelder that did not lay until they were over 6 months old but they produced medium eggs when they started.

I've hatched sexlinks like her before too, but mine were a BO X BR cross, I sold them before they started laying though, but like all the others said, most pullets start small and get larger eggs with time.
