The Blue Orp/Buff Brahmas are 16 days old, one blue and one black, cockerel and pullet, I believe. I'm positive the blue is a cockerel and the chocolately black one seems like a pullet to me. The oddly-marked BR or BR/SLW chick is 13 days old. DH helped me by taking them out in the sun to take these pics. Hopefully, they show better outside. You can still see the stripe down one side of the BR baby's back, although they are starting to fade.

Here's the blue baby first then the black one- cockerel then pullet? Opinions welcome!I think you can already see the gold coming in on the blue, a sure sign of a cockerel with the pairing of Suede and Caroline

So, you think this is a pullet? Too early to tell?

Hey I recognize that blue chick! Very Cute. The BR/SLW doesn't look laced but it doesn't really look barred either it looks widely striped. I cant wait to see it as it grows. Should be very interesting.

I hope she is a girl! The back and the SLW. The blue one in the head on picture I can see a hint of pinkish so I think you are right on there.

They are so cute.

Even a SLW would not have lacing at that age, only streaking. In fact, I think in genetics, barring trumps lacing, at least if it's the sire that has it. I'd love some input from genetics people in the know on that one. A Barred and Laced combo is probably not one I would have made on purpose, but if this is one, then we at least get to see how it develops.
Here is one of my SLW girls at a few days old, then a couple of weeks old, then five weeks old-see, even then, the lacing isn't developed yet:

I'm definitely leaning toward girl on that one, too, Kate. And I second what you said about the BR baby. Wish it would hurry up and feather so we could see what the heck I have here. I just hope its a girl so I can keep it and see it to adulthood.
