This weekend is the Great Backyard Bird Count.

http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/

Birdwatchers contribute quite a bit to our knowledge of birds. Bird counts are just one of the ways. Take a look and contribute. Even if you only know one bird your contribution to the count is important.

Maybe we can even post photos of wild birds seen in our yards here. I know there is another thread out there. Can someone post a link?

Mourning Dove, Chelsea, Wisconsin.

I raced a bald eagle through a neighborhood on my way to the high school to pick up Nicole this afternoon. Does that count?

We'll be counting here in Simi Valley, CA on Sunday. Saturday at our buddy's house in Northridge, Ca.

Every year our count includes Larry, a feral Goffin's Corella who has lived with the local flock of crows for over 20 years.
Live Free or Die, Larry!

Okay, so we count every bird we see or every TYPE bird we see? 'Cause if it's every bird I'm gonna lose count. All those cardinals look alike to me.

CityGirl,

Check out the website. The instructions are on it. The count is really pretty simple. If you have a bunch of one type of bird you count how many you see at one time and then log the highest number.

Thanks dacjohns for the info. That sounds like fun.

It will be something to do during my break from doing taxes.
