I don't know whether to be mad or sad! My emotions run around within like crazy.
I ordered 25 Welsummers and 25 Buff Catalanas from Welp, almost a month ago, to be delivered this week. They had THEM available to order...no big deal!
Earlier this week they call to say they don't have EITHER breed until mid to late February would I wait or I could get something else. I was a bit upset but figured, "these things happen and they probably have no control over it." I worked in customer service, I know how this can be.
However, there was not much attempted in the way of restitution on their part. Still...no big deal!
So, I opted for 25 Barred Rocks and 25 Buff Orpingtons.
Today, when I go get them at the PO I find that ALL but one of the Orpingtons are DEAD/DYING (And the one that is alive I'm not even sure has a chance. I have it wrapped in a Santa hat and keep checking in on it.) while all but ONE of the Barred Rocks are ALIVE! What odds, huh?
I wonder if they got both breeds from different breeders?
It broke my heart to see all those poor babies dead. I had to bury them in the bin where I burn wood.
I came back in to call them about the dead Orps. They offered to send 25 more Orps but I opted on the Barred Rocks. Call me superstitious but, I'm not banking much on where or who ever they got their Orps from.
Then I asked them about the FREE Rare & Unusual chick that was to be sent as a gift? They said, "Oh we don't do that!"
WHAT??? I saw it on the website. When I finished and before I entered my payment information. There was a box where you have to select if you want a Rare & Unusual chick FOR free or not! Which I did. I figured, "why not?" I was so emotional at that point and didn't want to argue the point. It is ONE chick, right?
BUT IT'S THE PRINCIPLE!!!
Anyway, I guess I should see this as my glass half full but why am I still upset? I don't like getting worked up over stuff. I am HAPPY to have my 25 BRs...VERY happy. Maybe it's, lack of sleep?
Whatever it is...it's a harsh lesson. I will NOT be ordering from Welp, again!

PS Here are a couple of pictures I took of them. Well, my house mate took the one of me with chicks. Do NOT Laugh....I have bed-head and am a bit emotional at that point...plus I had just woken up half an hour prior! Oh let's not forget...I didn't sleep all that well either. LOL!
