nipple waterers . . . questions

I have them in the brooder and the coop. I don't find the dripping a problem. There may be a little dripping but I don't see any water build up
below them. My chicks started using them at three days old and I am going to try in from day one when I get the next batch.

I love them.

No, if you install them correctly there should be no leaks whatsoever. There will be the occasional drip after a chicken takes a drink, kind of like a little dribble. But, they really are worth their weight in gold, that's why I created my byc page around them!! lol

Depends on your application. The heavier the plastic you use, go with the screw ins, the lighter go ahead and use the push ins with the rubber grommets. However, I have used the push ins with a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket, with no probs, just a bit of manuevering to get them in place. I actually sealed the inside of the bucket where the nipple was with food grade silicone. I was impatient and drilled the hole out just a smidgen too big and was not going to spend another 5.00 on a new bucket when I already had the silicone. Works great and did wonderfully for me all winter with a deicer! Sooooo much easier!!

I bought mine from Kullas. They are the metal screw in ones. They have a couple of parts that
can fall out when you are cleaning so you need to be careful. I would recommend them ( and Kullas)

I have them in a 2 gallon container and a plastic coffee mate container that works great for the chicks.
I am using an aquarium heater dropped in the 2 gallon container and even when it was down to 10 degrees
the water was 70 degrees.

well . . . I ran right out to buy the nipples . . . and of course no one sells them here, so ordered from Tek Supply. Guess it is next weekends project! I'll go re-arrange chickens today . . . they love it when I do that!
