nipple waterers . . . questions

They don't NEED a lid but its not a bad idea. atleast cover with a piece of wood or something to keep dust and feathers out.

Good luck and God Bless!

The pressure in the bucket should be the same as the atmosphere. No vaccum.

The lid is a very good idea because even very small particles in the water that get lodged between the nipple stem and seat can cause dripping.

thanks guys!!!!! going out to drill holes now . . . nervous about making them too big!

HEY BIGSTACK!!! Your avatar is really cool! I've never crossed paths with anyone from Texarkana . . . are you familiar with the Mansion On Main? that was my great grandmothers childhood home, she was a Burke. I just never got to say that to anyone before !!! lol!

Or...go ahead and drill a hole or two in the top edge of the bucket, that preserves the lid for other uses that might come up.

Katy -

I have a question for you on a different topic. (This should probably be in the coop forum) - I'm building a run and plan to use some of my welded wire fencing that I have lying around the house. How did you attach the wire to the frame of your coop? I know I could use fence staples, but I suck with a hammer, and it looks like you used some other fastner.

Also, I love the bucket/nipple waterer. I'll have to give it a try once I get my run done.

I used electrical staples they are the kind used to attach electrical wire to wood - much smaller and less hammering than fencing staples! They do not sell them at Home Depot I had to get them from an electrical supply house.
if you like the waterers chekc out my feeders they are so great! I had to move them indoors, that's why you don't see them in the first pic.
