This is the new support group thread where we can guide Okiechick through
hatching eggs in a Little Giant 9200 so she doesn't repeat the stupid things I did.

Active participation is encouraged, required, & begged for.
Please correct me if I say anything you disagree with. It won't hurt my feelings.

OK here we go.

Okie

Open box

Take out bator

Take out metal screen (You will use this and that rubber stuff later when they
are hatching)

Put in Turner

Put wiggler in egg turner under window so you can see thermometer.
99.5 is the optimum temp for the wiggler. Keep it under 100.

Put another thermometer somewhere you can see it. This one will read
air temp and will be all over the place. If you get good temp stability it should
be around 100.5, assuming it's accurate.
Don't get confused here. The most important temp is the wiggler. We'll cover
this a lot later

Fill up two of the four water canals in the middle of the lower tray. We are shooting
for a 45% humididty through day 18. This will take a few days to figure out.

To be continued...

this is how I look now......... thanks P.C.

how did you know I needed such easy step by step instructions.,and now all in one place. YOU are too COOL

LET THE GAMES BEGIN !

Close and plug in the bator. Don't touch the thermostat. Let's just let it heat up
for a while.

The wiggler will take some time to come to temp.

That white knob is VERY sensitive. You will just turn it a touch to raise or lower
the temp, wait, then do it again. Sorta like the instructions on the back of a shampoo
bottle.

I know you've had eggs for a week now and they are room temp. Lay them on their
sides now until you put them in bator.

Adjusting the temp with nothing in the bator is gonna take a little time.

Don't open it. That was my biggest downfall.

Let us know what kind of room you have it in. A closet is good. No drafts.
What is the regular temp of the room. This will need to remain steady.

Watch the wiggler. If I gave you two and you have 2 thermometers use both.

Oh, what thermometers do you have???

That is padding I bought in Job Lot after I think Speckledhen reccomended it. That
is what the chicks will hatch on. It helps them stand and prevents splayed leg.
You won;t need it for 19 days.

Tommorrow is day 1. Even if you end up putting in the eggs tonight.

Stop giggling like a school girl.

Plug in the egg turner. The motor gets VERY hot and jacks up the inside
temp. We want that on now so we don't have to deal with it later.

Good start. Good old mercury thermometers are great for the wiggler.

You will need a humidity guage. You can get a cheap one at a pet store. I found
my $5 analog one was just as good as my $20 one.

There are a bunch of threads about them. Hopefully someone will chime in here and
help. Where is everyone??? Or are you all just laughing at me???

I am so far from giggling.................not yet.to much of a nervous wreck............

No nervous wreck stuff.... This is fun. Save the nerves for days 20 & 21.

I gotta take a quick shower. Let it warm up. Let's see where it sits at.

Where is everyone???
