A few months ago we made some changes to the policies regarding egg swaps, 24 hour auctions, etc. Unfortunately things didn't go according to plan and became a bit of a mess and we apologize for any inconveniences or problems this may have caused.

For this reason, over the past few months the BYC Staff have been trying to come up with a win-win solution and while we couldn't find a 100% perfect plan to accommodate all the parties involved, we think we have a workable fix.

Basically we're going to allow the members to decide how they want to run these swaps. The only rules are:

1) They must be started, organized, and run by members that have been registered with BYC for at least 3 months and have at least 100 posts.
2) There must be a disclaimer in the first post of each swap that BYC nor the staff are responsible for anything that happens in the swaps and will not get involved in the swaps or individual transactions.
3) We strongly encourage all the swap participants to use the existing BSA system to take advantage of the organization and feedback system (see below). This isn't a "requirement" but is a suggestion for a better run swap. Also, if a swap goes "bad" and you haven't used the BSA section you won't be able to leave and track feedback.

How to run a swap using the BSA system:

1) Create a new swap thread in the "Chickenstock" section of the forum. Title it "Online Chicken Swap" or "Online 24 Hour Auction Chain" etc.
2) Post the instructions and the disclaimer in the first post of the thread
3) The first item for trade, sale, etc. is posted as a new listing in the appropriate BSA section and a link to the listing is copied into the newly created Swap thread.
4) All the discussions and chatter about the swap takes place in the swap thread while the actual transactions take place in the BSA section.

Here is an example:

Terrie wants to start a state egg swap, 24 hour auction chain, etc. She would go to the Chickenstock section of the forum and create a new thread called their "Online Swap - Crazy 24 Hour Egg Chain".

Cyn wants to join Terrie's egg swap chain and goes to the egg section of BSA and create a new auction. Then Cyn goes to Terrie's "Crazy 24 Hour" thread and post a link to her auction.

Kurtis wants to buy Cyn's eggs. He goes to the egg chain thread and can chat with Cyn, Terrie, etc, but when he is ready to make the purchase, he clicks on Cyn's link to the egg listing, buys the item, and completes the transaction in the BSA section. Of course he would probably want to go back to Terrie's thread and shout hurray for winning Cyn's eggs!

Again, we've decided not to force the members to run their swaps, chains, etc. this way, but we strongly encourage the use of the BSA system.

Hopefully this helps resolve a lot of the questions and issues around the swaps. We again apologize for the problems and confusion and hope this clears things up.

NOTE: This is a new policy, so please keep in mind we may need to make adjustments as we see how things go and what problems / reports we receive.

Thank you staff very much for trying so hard to accommodate all of us. What a daunting task that must be.

***looking forward to giving it a whirl***

that looks great. The egg train can we run them and how do you want them to work I love the 24 hour aution can it be a sticky if it does will. Can we start on now.

the Crazy Egg Chain is working great thanks still think about the 24 hour auction or a 12 hour auction but not sure how to run one yet I love the idea of using the Auction page but that means all auction will be running at different times. And might get hard on me to know the high bid on each one to make a list of the running auctions. I like a 12 hour auction because some time I have egg that need to be mailed the next day. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks again for bring them back

Thank you! I'm sorry that I couldn't help come up with any other ideas. I had thought a lot about it, just couldn't rattle any good ideas from my tired brain, lol.

So we can have a state trading thread? I know this was very helpful to members in my area, rather than searching through pages of auction and WTB listings

Yup, you sure can.

Again, we STRONGLY suggest that the members use the BSA system to do the actual transactions. We want to ensure that our members have a way to provide and receive valid feedback with all transactions and the BSA system is the only way to do this in a credible way.
