So I had 2 hatches, one last Monday, and one last Thursday. Both were four eggs, two dutch bantam, two yokohama. Last hatch, both yokohamas hatched fine. The Dutch bantams, were alive, but died in the shells before pipping, and I couldn't even hear them tapping the shell. Now, both yokohamas pipped yesterday (Friday) and hatched today. One of the Dutch already died, and the other isn't pipping, and I'm afraid the same thing will happen as in the last hatch. What do I do?

I suppose you could CAREFULLY CAREFULLY CAREFULLY make a SMALL crack in the egg, but wait awhile to be sure, sometimes they are just late. Don't Dutch have small hatch rates?

Okay, I cracked a hole in the shell, and the chick is still alive. The weird part, though, is that the yolk sack appears to be pretty big, so I'm assuming the chick is less developed than the others. I wonder why?

Chick is dead.

Anyone have answers?

I think you need to supply some more information.

What was your temp and humidity for the first 18 days, and during lockdown. It is my guess that your humidity is too high and/or your temps too low. Also, what kind of incubator and does it have a fan in it? Do you have your vents open?

Sorry the hatches aren't going well.
