My OEGH is always shaking her head, she also likes to wipe her beak. SHe can't seem to stop skaing her haed, she will sit for a while, like 4 secs, then have the shake it. Any ideas???

I wonder if chickens can get ear mites like cats and dogs do? I am sorry I don't have the answer for you. Hopefully someone will come along to help you out.

I was wondering that too, I have been treating her for scaley mites, and I know her legs are itchy. I checked her ears and they are clear of anything but she did like me gently rubbing them. At first she was mad at me for holding ehr head but after she sat the and gave me a weird look.
Gosh that does sound like mites doesn't it? I know my dog had them once and I would rub his ears and he would melt from relief I think. I will try to search some older threads for you and see if this has been brought up before....
Well, I did a serch and it does seem possible those little buggers can get in thier ears too! What are you using now to treat the scaly mites on her?

I was using Pam on her legs, i don't really want to put that in her ears. lol
No I don't imagine you would! On some of the threads, there is discussion about using piritherines (not sure how to spell) and other chemicals for mites, as well as dusting the entire coop and other birds as well. Do you have a good feed store near you? You might want to ask for thier recomendation on what you could use to clear it up. I wish dlhunicorn was on here this evening...she has the BEST info.

i will check back in the mornig, your up late too I see. !! its in 10>30 here in Vancouver. I will check in the morning and then at the feedstore. She is my house chicken so she hasn't been in contact with the other chickens, and I don't see them doing it.
We were to late, she is gone. She lives across the pond so she is usually on here at night. Hopefully someone can get some answers for you, and I hope your hen will be okay!
