Sd -- Sex Link Dilution. Reported by Munro (1946) Closely associated with Sex Linked Barring (B) Sd males are barred, Sd Sd males are white. Sd females are bluish ghost barred, sd females are barred.

Does anyone have any information on this gene?

such as:
- Whats the common name for this color/pattern?
- What breeds have this color/pattern?
- Do you know any hatcheries/breeders that have them?
- Do you know of any pics online of this?

Thanks!

(PS - yes, I have tried google, etc. no luck)

As far as I know sexlinked dilution is a different mutation on the barring locus.
B^sd = sexlinked dilution
B = barred
b+ = not barred
Order of dominance B^sd > B > b+

So I don't get the "sd females are barred"

Im not sure if this is exactly what you are talking about but here is a ghost barred cockerel that I had.

These are the parents Black Sexlink roo ( Buff Orp X Barred Rock ) and Rhode Island White hens ( Dominant White with silver genes.)

Munro refered to this as "a true breeding Blue" because the hemizygous female B^sd , and heterozygous males B^sd/ (B or b+) have light blue barred plumage; the homozygous males B^sd/B^sd resemble Dominant White birds, but they are epistatic to pheomelanin (gold) which Dominant Whites aren't. As far as I know it has no common name.
This might rarely be found in any Barred/Cuckoo breed, but seems much more common in commercial meat birds. Can't help with a photo.
As Henk said the cockerel shown is not B^sd

Oh, my...there was a day when I would have understood all of this (post-college, pre-kids). Now y'all are making my head hurt. Fascinating stuff, though!

The only thing I can find online is that this is somehow associated with
California Greys (sometimes call production blacks). Has anyone ever
heard of a blue California grey? Or a white California grey rooster?

I may have found the breed!

Fifty Five Flowery

This is an autosexing breed. Males are white
while females are barred with a light grey/blue
color. Described as a rather big chicken. They
lay large, white eggs.

That really sounds like the B^SD gene! And the
large size and white eggs are a huge bonus.

Has anyone heard of this breed or know anywhere
I may be able to get some eggs/chicks/adults/anything?

The females would be either Sd/- or sd/-. Since they are already B/-
for the barred gene as well, then the ones with Sd are "ghost" barred
while the ones with sd are just normal barred. Well, at least thats
my guess.
