I have just hatched my first F2 blr cochin babies. Thought I'd update on the progress.

btw I have eggs and 2 pullets for sale to anyone that is interested in working on this project. I can only breed a very limited number of birds myself

I would be interested in some eggs if & when you have them available. I was thinking about doing BLRW's because I love the color, but keep coming back to the idea of how great it would be to have the color in cochins. How did you get to where you are? And what would you suggest as the next step going forward? I will have to look into some additional stock to cross them with I'm sure.

I noticed that the temperament of the wyandottes is not to my liking. The cochins are a LOT more docile so that is one of my goals. I used a splash BLRW roo over partridge cochin to get the F1's. I used these crossed with a Mille Fleur cochin for the F2's. Now I need to see what I am getting in the patterns to know where I need to go next. I may even end up breeding the F2's together or cross back to the F1 pullets. It all really depends on what colors I get out of the F2's
 
Was your BLRW roo a single comb? I read somewhere that they sometimes pop up in PB Wyandottes, and that the Wy breeders cull them. It occurred to me they might be useful to introduce the color to cochins w/o the comb issues at least.
