Questions on candling on day 17???

( I dont have a good bright flash light)

I was candling 5 eggs and I noticed

2 of the eggs the light shined through....

3 of them it was pure dark

does that mean the ones that shined through have no chicks in them, or could it be my bad flash light????


Oh. and then I did, Another broodies eggs,

and 2 of the eggs shined through
and 2 were complety dark?

Yeah I candled them one more time to make sure theres no chick in there, and I think it was the same, between the two broodies I had 4/9 eggs where bad, well I brought them in the house and I cracked them open to see if they started to form and died, or if they just did not start at all. I cracked them all open and (they did not slip out, like a normal egg would do, they splashed out and they smelt sour!!!
