Blanche started going broody on Monday and we seem to have pretty much broken the spell by locking her out of the henhouse during the day and blocking the nesting boxes at night. She laid her last egg on Monday -- the first day -- and hasn't laid since. Any advice on how long until she starts laying again? She was a daily layer and has only missed a day or two since she started laying in mid-January.
Also, because their routine has been disrupted, our other four have not been laying as regularly and have been laying in places other than the nesting boxes -- which they had never done before. We had golf balls in the boxes but took them out when Blanche went broody. Can/should we put them back to get everyone back in their good habits or will we be risking sending Blanch back into broodiness?
