Winter broodiness

You can hang it from the ceiling or set it on top of the poop boards or nest boxes too.Be sure to stabilize it properly so it doesn't swing and can't fall.

Yes absolutely, the best place for a breaker is near/within view of the flock, and in a protected area like the coop or run.
Okay ill try and find a smaller crate for her this week to do this with, because the big one definitely wont fit in there. Are there any other suggestions in case this doesnt work? Or I guess just keep rotating through solutions until one sticks?

I would keep her in there continuously until she breaks, because this has gone on too long already. Since she's been broody this long, it may take quite a while for her to finally quit.

For future reference if you do not want a hen to hatch, best to begin breaking her as soon as you confirm she's broody, as they should break faster the quicker you do it.

Also, for anyone else reading who is new to this, don’t have any bedding, or anything else that could be shaped into a nest. My broody jail (only used once 🤞🏻) is a wire dog crate with the tray removed, so barred “floor”, with one roost perch, raised off the run floor on cinder blocks.

Boy, was she mad, but/AND it worked pretty quickly.
