I've had Echo since she before she was even eating solid food and after some rough periods and a 3 month separation she's back with me and is actually a well behaved, relatively quiet, cuddly parrot. She's going to be 1 year old on May 5th 2011. I want to know what I can do with her to get her to be more interactive with the family and me. She loves sitting on your shoulder and sleeping in your jacket. I want to teach her to dance and try to teach her to sing, whistle, and/or talk. Right now she will vocalize a little but it's mostly just sharp sounds and coos. I want to teach her to dance to music which I have no idea how to do that really. I just figured if I teach her how to do cute things she'll get more attention in my house from some of the other members of my family and guests. She sometimes makes her pupils bigger and smaller really quick when I talk to her. Is this a good thing. I also want to know some activities I can practice to make a stronger bond with her.
Let me tell you a little about her. She really doesn't mind being touched and doesn't really bite hard e. She will preen my hair and play with my ear gently. She knows how to step up and will play with the toys in her cage if given a chance. She loves sitting on top of her cage and will come down to explore if she gets bored. In general she's not very needy but very friendly when you do give her attention. She has no preferences to people. She loves me but will step up/climb onto another person without a thought. I hand-fed her but screwed up when I was weaning her, not bad but she never learned to take treats from you but is just now starting to get the idea. I would enjoy training her to do tricks but I have no idea how to start.
