Peacocks loosing feathers in spring????

My cousins peacoks are loosing their tail feathers and it's only spring??? She takes very good care of them and the only thing I can think of that triggered it, was when her heat lamp turned off.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if she had them lighted all threw the winter, (which is un needed unless they are one of the 3 pure greens) then that screwed their biological clock up. When did they feather out, should have been just recently, like late Dec. to Jan. on the start, I've got some that are just now finishing growing actually. If earlier than that, they have run their course and are just doing what they thought was a natural cycle. If they started on a normal cycle and are loosing them this quick, they may have mites that are chewing them up and will needed a good Sevin dusting.

Make sure she knows not to light them in the winter though, once they drop their tails, they loose fertility too, so now all the eggs the hens lay will be no good.
