I really do need to get updated pics of my pullet...she just keeps getting prettier! These were taken when she was 8 weeks - she's now 13 or 14 weeks and has matured to be such a pretty young lady!

I have one Isa Brown hen - her boyfriend is a Splash Jersey Giant cockerel, and boy, does he like her! He's quite smitten with her, and follows her around (like all good men of their mates!) like a puppy dog. He even roosts next to her and often covers her with his wing - somewhat odd rooster behavior, and she's the only one he does this with.

Anyway...this Isa Brown hen is a phenominal layer, laying 28 days straight, then taking a day or two off, and starting all over again, all through winter (in fact, she was the only hen I had that laid all through winter). The splash Giant rooster is huge - I haven't weighted or measured him, but he's a big 'un. The pullet pictured is the only progeny I have from the cross, and I just find her so cute that I thought it would be fun to offer some small batches of eggs.

This is my 4th auction of them - member Muggsmagee won the first auction and they hatched last week; I sent her 9 eggs; the oldest egg was 10 days old on the mail day, she received them on the 12th day, and she set them on the 13th day and still had a 100% hatch (Go, Muggs!). She got blue/black/splash coloring in her hatch.

This gal is white with black splashes, and her chest/neck are sort of a buff color. She has a nice, long back like her daddy, and.....almost nothing like her momma! I'm super excited for when she begins to lay; I'm so hoping she lays really well like her momma. Mom's eggs are quite round, and medium brown in color. The Jersey line I have lays light brown eggs, more elongated and quite large.

This is a PayPal only auction; payment must be made by 7 p.m. the day the auction ends. Eggs to be shipped out Monday, 4/11.

I'm going to PM Muggs and see if she will allow me to add her chick pics in that she sent me!

I can not say enough about these eggs. I was blown away at the mere size of them. They are colossal and very round. Out of the 9 eggs, all 9 chicks hatched. However, I rushed the last chick, thinking it might be a quitter...I opened the egg at the tip of the air sac, not realizing the chick had shifted itself to that end. Not only did I open it prematurely, I stabbed the chick.

I always interfere knowing full well I need to sit on my darn hands during hatch time. The 9th chick did hatch, but was weak and died 2 days later.

All my fault. I still count this as a 100% hatch.

These chicks are from the hen when she was exposed to 2 roos...a blue and a splash, so I ended up with both colors in this hatch. They are now in a brooder with Ameraucana chicks that hatched a day behind them, yet the Isa/JG are almost twice the size! Beautiful, healthy, HUGE chicks.

The second set of Isa/JG eggs I won a week later than those above are due to hatch in a few days. Out of 7 eggs, one had a blood ring and the other 6 are going strong. I'm hoping for a bunch of Splash in this hatch.

For those of us that hatch Ameraucanas, Silkies, Orpingtons, OE's and Marans, it is nice to have a change of pace by hatching something unexpected. These eggs have been a breath of fresh air, so to speak. I highly recommend jumping on this auction. You can't beat the price, and Wynette does a great job packing!

ETA: needed to fix an incomplete thought.

Thanks for posting a pic, Muggs! I'm so glad you are happy with your hatch - I'm just thrilled for you! Can't WAIT to see what the next batch is - hopefully, more splashes for you!

I have some of these in my incubator right now. The eggs are huge! Shipped and wrapped perfectly.

I have to patiently wait 17 more days to see what colors I get.

I can't find my battery charger. My digital camera has died, and I'd like to take some more shots of the chicks!

I would be very interested in these chicks egg production from what I've learned on byc . Isa's are already a hybrid RIR roo with RIW hen , I absolutely love mine and she is my best layer and lays the largest eggs of all my girls but I don't think that trate will pass to the next generation. From what I've read they don't pass on that good gene can you update when yours start laying please good luck it's still a pretty bird for sure.

Muggs - OMG, they ARE getting big! They look super cute - can't wait to see how they feather out!

Spitman, I'm sure they won't lay as well as a pure Isa, as that is what Isas are bred to do. But, I am hoping that my gal actually lays through winter, like my Isas. If I get a decent amount of eggs and she lays through winter, I'll be happy.

I will update when my gal begins to lay - she is I think 15 weeks this week, comb not even beginning to turn pink. She was hatched with some Black Copper Marans, and some of those pullet's combs are just pinking up a tiny bit, so maybe it won't take long?
