Hi, newbie here, both to the forum and to raising chickens.

One of my Easter Egger hens has been off for the past week or so, she is 16 weeks old. I did a quick search here and determined the most likely cause was coccidia. I am on day 5 a Corid drench and there seems to be little change.

She started out puffed up, head/neck withdrawn and not eating/drinking much. She now is not as puffed up, but otherwise there is not much change. She has no discharge from her beak and her eyes seem clear. She has definately lost weight. She does eat and drink, but not normally and she seems somewhat sleepy.

Is there something else that can cause these symptoms or did I just notice too late?

Thank You for your help!

I haven't noted either. Just picking her up, I haven't noted any fever, though I haven't picked her up with that in mind.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you.

My hubby took her to the vet and the vet is 99% sure that she had Marek's. He put her on an antibiotic, but we aren't expecting her to live. We'll see.

Marek's is a virus and an antibiotic won't help, but if it's something else, it would be good. I would also treat her again for coccidiosis with something else, like sulmet.

Marek's can't be diagnosed without an autopsy. Not even a blood test. The symptoms your hen is having could be anything.
You said drench? I put it in the drinking water, and if they are too sick to drink, I use a syringe until they drink for themselves.
