My chickens will jump up for food sometimes too. But a week or so ago, one of my chickens had jumped up for some cooked egg (I wasn't expecting it) and actually cut my finger. It was sort of like a paper cut. No biggie, but it sure surprised me! I didn't even know they had teeth!

Ouchie! Sometimes when I'm sitting on the ground with the hen's, they'll peck my back and take me by surprise! Ouch! That really smarts. I justify their behavior by telling myself that they're just petting me back.
