Are You a Practical Chicken Keeper... or a Total Chicken Spoiler? 🧁

And also foot and mouth, I think? The 2001 outbreak was thought to be caused by infected or contaminated meat in pig swill.
Yes, thanks for adding this.

It’s pretty infuriating (and I’m not even affected) that the people who wrote this couldn’t or wouldn’t distinguish between pig swill and kitchen scraps.

Even I’m a better cook than that! ;)

Now you are making me do math? ugh, okay-

1. How do you greet your chickens in the morning?

B) I sing them a morning song—complete with choreography to get them to suitable grounds.

2. What’s your go-to treat for your flock?

C) A healthy mix of garden veggies and occasional store-bought goodies. ... But kitchen scraps? Well I have parrots that eat a fresh diet- so it is a chop mix with about 20 very specific things, plus some scrambled eggs, bee pollen...- Opps. I guarantee I am going be labeled chicken-nuts now (but ground flax seed is not a nut?)

3. What’s your coop cleaning routine like?

C) Regular tidy-ups, plus a seasonal coop refresh.

4. Have you ever dressed up your chickens?

A) No way. That’s just feathers asking for trouble.

5. What kind of dƩcor does your coop have?

A) Nesting boxes, roosts, ventilation—and that’s all it needs.

6. How often do you post about your chickens online?

A) Rarely. I might share a photo if something funny happens.
- but I dont have social media. I guess I post on here when I offer solutions.

7. What’s your chicken first-aid kit like?

C) A well-stocked box that grows with experience.

8. Do your chickens have names?

B) Of course, and each has a backstory and voice.

9. How do you handle a sick hen?

C) Quarantine, care, and a few extra treats to cheer her up.

10. What’s your dream chicken upgrade?

A) A larger run or automatic waterer.
B) A heated coop with Wi-Fi cameras and a velvet roosting perch.
C) Maybe a walk-in coop with some cozy features.
N/A or I have these things- so no answer? but I guess C.

So... 22, I guess? But I'm seriously on the cusp. Livestock? more like outdoor aviary birds. I had to stretch a few answers definately not buying them clothing- but I do give them spa herbs. —let's be honest, I was never great at those magazine quizzes anyway.
As Thoreau said:
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer."... Ill take 'I march to the beat of my own drum'.. haha. My chickens do the same- little rascals.

Idk, I know a retired pig farmer who reckons the swill used to smell pretty appetising when they boiled it up!

Obviously no one with half a brain is going to admit to it in writing on a public forum but I'd be interested to know how many people ignore the law and feed some amount/kinds of scraps anyway. Most people I know do...

I got a 12… all As except two Cs (for how you treat sick chickens and the dressing up… I put a hat on my rooster and some funny arms on another roo) and one B (closest for them all having names, no backstory tho 🤣)
