1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) Blue laced red Wyandotte hen, about 34 weeks, she seems to be the same weight as the others, I'm not sure what she weighs.
2) What is the behavior, exactly. She is bobbing her head, almost acting like she's choking.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? I've been sick so I haven't been outside, I first noticed last night.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. I don't think anything has happened
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Layena feed mixed with oyster shell, on christmas they had peanut butter suet cakes with raisins and bread, scratch, cheerios, stuff she has found in the dirt, greens.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. I haven't looked, but I haven't seen any non normal looking poop.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? None
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? I just want to find out what is wrong.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use A normal coop and pine shaving
She seems like she is breathing okay, she does it every maybe 5 minutes, she seems slightly lethargic, she'll sit on their outside roost choking and just standing there, but then she'll go scratch, and then choke again.
