Hello all, another newbie question:
When you make a chicken wire apron (instead of burying the wire) around a coop or pen, what's the best way to do it? Bend the chicken wire or just use a small thin strip? If you use a strip, how do you attach it to the other chicken wire? Finally, what do you use to stake it into the ground?

Thanks again for all the info and for all the patience everyone has shown this ignorant city slicker!

My wire runs along the inside of the pen and is stapled along the bottom board. It then folds under the board twords the outside and then is staked down. Does this make sense? If not, I can try and post a pic.

thanks for the reply; that's very helpful. What did you use to stake the wire into the ground?

You can usually find stakes in a nursery or any stores garden section. I've even heard of people making them by cutting up wire coat hangers!

Here's a pic of my dog house coop and run when it was a work in progress. You can get kind of an idea of what I was talking about. I ended up adding an additional square piece at the corners and attaching them with zip ties so the skirt goes all the way around.
