I just received 47 chicks from Cackle last Friday thinking that the August temps and a heat lamp would be enough to keep them warm. Woke up this AM to find the brooder struggling to reach 87 degrees.

Chicks were huddled together but not piled on top of each other so I'm hoping we're OK!

Awwwww........such a sweetie!!! Congratulations!!! I have been wearing long sleeves most of the last two days and I am in ARKANSAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kay am i seeing things or is one of those eggs, got an egg inside of the egg? LOL! I nkow it's possible for it to happen, and it looks like that one egg does have a smaller egg inside ofit?? LOL! cool if so.

That is a little bit of an optical illusion. It's just the top part of the egg that fell into the bottom part.

Thanks for the kind words!!! We are so excited that our first hatch is going so well. Churkey, our hen, is being a great surrogate Mom to these EE's...
