I just recieved a lot of barred rock hens a couple are in bad shape, but one is in need of immediate attention she has a soccer ball sized (maybe a little smaller,but not much) completly red around her booty. Is she egg bound or heck I have no idea. I could really,really use some help.PLEASE!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! I feel so bad for her she has got to be in pain and completly miserable. I just want to help her so bad before we have to make the decision to euthinize(sp?) her. I would sincerely appreciate any info and advice. Thank-you, Tiffany I will put a pic up when I can find the stupid card reader.

Try changing your title to say exactly what kind of problem you have like

Hen with huge red tennis ball lump on butt HELP!

That way the reader knows what kind of help you need and will give it if they can. Good luck.


You might want to try a warm bath if she is egg bound that helps relax them enough that they may pass the egg. Sorry I can't help more new to chicks myself
 
No she ate as soon as we got her here and drank some water I have her in a seperate cage until I know what to do. I have never seen anything like it but these birds were severely mistreated!
 
For us to be able to help you, you're going to have to provide more info.

Please clarify: Does she have a big lump on her backside?

What symptoms does she have that make you think she is egg bound?

Is she lethargic, or is she walking like normal?

The more info you can give us , the better the chances we can help.

She is walking around although she is very lethargic.
